About Paul and how I work

About Me

Hello,

I am a qualified integrative counsellor, I am registered with the BACP and abide by their ethical framework and hold relevant professional insurances.

I have had a long-standing interest in psychology, philosophy and human development. Since obtaining a BSc in psychology around a decade ago, I have held various roles in both the third and private sectors.

Through counselling I have the privilege to utilise my experiences and learnings to help people navigate through their life challenges.

My approach

I work in a collaborative way with clients, looking to offer a safe and judgement-free space and a quality of relationship that enables us to explore the challenges and difficulties being experienced.

My approach is based around an integrative framework, which means my approach is to look to different modalities to help inform my work in a way appropriate to your individual needs. My integrative work is informed by psychodynamic, person-centred, existential and transactional analysis modalities. Additionally, where appropriate, I will use visualisation techniques to help process trauma.

I have a particular interest in subjectivity and meaning, how we all come to ascribe value sets and signification. Having observed through my practice how, at one point, adaptive meanings can become difficult and limiting.

I work with adults of all ages and am experienced working with clients from diverse backgrounds and with varied challenges.
